Yellow Fever Vaccine
Protects against:
Yellow fever virus, severe hemorrhagic fever, organ failure, and death
Who should get it:
- Travelers to endemic areas in Africa and South America
- Laboratory workers handling yellow fever virus
- Residents of yellow fever-endemic countries
- Anyone 9 months or older traveling to or living in at-risk areas
Schedule:
Single dose provides lifelong protection for most people. Booster may be recommended for certain high-risk groups after 10 years.
Why vaccinate:
- Prevents a potentially fatal disease with no specific treatment
- Required for entry into many countries
- Provides long-lasting immunity (often lifelong)
- Protects against outbreaks in endemic regions

Important note:
